Just a quick note to let you know how much I enjoyed my first work weekend on Adventuress. You can certainly be proud of an organization that is able to assimilate a newcomer so quickly and completely and help him make a positive contribution to the ship in so little time. It appears effortless, but I realize that it only happens with planning, preparation, and practice. I look forward to continued association wtih Sound Experience and hope to do more for the cause. [J.P., Jan. 2008]

Sound Experience relies on the dedication and commitment of our year-round volunteers from throughout the Puget Sound area. Volunteers are mailed a newsletter several times a year highlighting opportunities for participation in programs and events both on and off the ship. Training, food, & lodging provided for shipboard activities. Off-ship duties include fundraising events, festival booths, committee work, Board of Directors, office help, and public relations.

All volunteers must be a current Sound Experience member and have an application on record. Our volunteers who will be working on our youth programs must also pass a background check. Please contact the office or visit our Forms page to download or fill-out the Year-Round Volunteer Application.

Work Weekends

Each winter, the ship is de-rigged and undergoes extensive cleaning, maintenance, and repair work. Once each month, we call on volunteers to join us for a weekend of boat work: sanding, varnishing, scrubbing, painting, and helping with all sorts of projects, from mechanical and electrical to woodworking and rigging. We welcome folks of any and all abilities--we'll find a job for you! Bunks are available and meals are included. If you'd like to be added to our Winter Work Weekend e-newsletter list, please call the office or email us at korie@soundexp.org
