Youth-At-Risk & Special Programs
Sound Experience has always had a strong commitment to underserved and at-risk youth in the Puget Sound region.
In 2007, we renewed our commitment to at-risk teens with the launch of an initiative that partners with organizations already striving daily to keep young people on a positive track. Youth-serving organizations are continually seeking growth experiences that offer opportunities for education, leadership development, new persepctives and a deeper connection to the world in which they live. These experiences strengthen teens' self-identity and, in difficult times, can strengthen their resolve. As young people live and work aboard Adventuress, they learn about Puget Sound's fragile marine environment and how their actions can make a difference. As important, they learn to work alongside others in a cooperative, community-minded way. Often the experience is life-changing.
