Girls at the Helm - Spring Break Experience

Aboard Adventuress, STEM science, the Salish Sea, and maritime history come alive! Participants are actively involved in every aspect of sailing the ship, from hauling lines to learning about navigation and marine science. Through these activities, they’ll learn the significance of teamwork, how to take responsibility for their own actions, and the pride of accomplishment. Sailing and learning together as the ships company, the girls will develop confidence as leaders, sailors and advocates for the future of the Salish Sea.

Girls at the Hem also brings together teens with mentors. These women are experts in their field who want to share their skills and experience while connecting with the next generation of women leaders. There will be 3 mentors aboard for the overnight portion and up to 20 mentors during the Mentor Day Sail.

When: April 13-16, 4-day Overnight and April 17, Mentor Day Sail (10am-3pm)
Where: Shilshole Bay Marina, Seattle
Cost: Members $495, Non-members $525

This program will be offered to a maximum of 20 participants. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for our teen programs. For more information, click here.

Girls at the Helm presented me with all of the options that I had in life and showed me successful women mentors—women doing what they want to do... It was those experiences that gave me a direction in life. I’ve been doing ocean research ever since. - Amelia F., Girls at the Helm

Fantastic Voyage

Join us this year for 4-days/3-nights of adventure where we provide youth of all genders in grades 7-12 a supportive, fun and dynamic learning environment. Meet new people while setting sail, expand comfort zones by climbing aloft or steering the ship. Explore the Salish Sea with activities focused on marine animals including plankton and marine mammals, ocean acidification, microplastics and more! Fantastic Voyage builds confidence and competence, models teamwork and responsibility and provides strong crew role models with respect to environmental stewardship and community.

Where: Shilshole Bay Marina, Seattle to Port of Everett
When: Overnight - Monday, August 3rd to Thursday, August 6th
Cost: Members $877, Non-members $975

This program will be offered to a maximum of 20 participants. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for our teen programs. For more information, click here.

We value Adventuress because our son has a chance to gain authentic, hands on experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. We think it is so important for kids this age to have positive role models outside of their family AND our son loves the maritime world so Adventuress is a perfect fit. - Fantastic Voyage Parent, 2024

To find out more, please visit the Apprentice page.
About Youth Scholarships
Though all of our programs are subsidized, we also provide some partial and full youth scholarships on a limited basis.
