Girls at the Helm Overnight Program
Our most popular program - where STEM science, the Salish Sea, and maritime history come alive - is back for 2023. Join us for 4 days of overnight programs for girls in grades 7-12. The girls participate directly in every aspect of sailing the ship, from hauling lines to learning about navigation and STEAM principles. Through these activities, they’ll learn the significance of teamwork, how to take responsibility for their own actions, and the pride of accomplishment. Sailing and learning together as the ships company, the girls will develop confidence as leaders, sailors and advocates for the future of the Salish Sea.

Girls at the Helm presented me with all of the options that I had in life and showed me successful women mentors—women doing what they want to do... It was those experiences that gave me a direction in life. I’ve been doing ocean research ever since. - Amelia F., Girls at the Helm 2009

Covid Protocols
We have implemented new policies and procedures in keeping with Covid-related guidelines and recommendations from the federal and state agencies including the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Washington State Department of Health, county health authorities, and the American Camp Association. We understand as well that the situation is ever-changing, and will adapt our protocols and procedures accordingly. At Sound Experience, we are all shipmates. As such, we are committed to ensuring that we care for our community and all safety protocols are followed, as we deliver our mission aboard Adventuress in this challenging year.We will be asking you to help us to follow all Covid-19 policies by reading over the materials we send out, complying with all guidelines and letting us know if you have any questions. Together we can help reduce the risk of Covid spread in our communities, and still experience the magic of Adventuress.
Please read over the Sound Experience Covid-19 Practices to learn about Sound Experience’s Covid-19 policies and procedures. Once you have registered your child, we will send to you a packet of information detailing our practices and how you can prepare for your specific program. Should you have any questions, please e-mail Amy at amy@soundexp.org
