Welcome, we are excited to have you apart of the Sound Experience crew and community!


Since you have found your way to this page we can assume you have submitted all of the required paperwork in Part A and B of your onboarding email (payroll docs, certifications, medical form, crew bio, etc.). THANK YOU! If you have not, please make sure you complete your forms ASAP.

Required Crew Reading

Please read the following information prior to your season start. These packets will help greatly to prepare you for your time on board, the curriculum, how to pack, and what to expect. Please let Jenny know if you have any questions.

Crew Guidebook

This is similar to the 2nd Interview Overview Packet and includes more in depth information about what to expect and bring, policies, expectations and more! Please be sure to read all of it before arriving to the ship.

Standards Flyers

This is a resource that was designed by our Education Committee as a resource for teachers and administrators. For crew, it's a nice quick glance at each lesson and outcomes students should take away from each lesson.

Sheet Anchor

Designed to be a pocket book, the Adventuress Sheet Anchor is a quick guide for just about everything - pin rail diagrams, Sound Experience facts, Adventuress history, lesson overviews and more! You will receive a printed copy when you arrive at the ship.
 
 

Required Crew Certifications

As mentioned in the interview process, all crew are required to have an up-to-date First Aid/CRP certification and a Washington Food Handlers Permit. Below are links to help you find courses and or begin training. Please let Jenny know if you have any questions.

WA Food Handlers Card

All crew will support serving food in the galley and needs to have this Food Handers Card before arriving to the ship. The course is entirely online, costs $10 and is valid for 2 years. Please select Whatcom County when prompted

CPR/First Aid

Check the Red Cross or Heart Saver website for local classes. In person classes are recommended for first timers. Online courses are recommended for folks who need a recertification.
Although not required, we encourage folks that are interested in outdoor education and emergency response to look into Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) courses. WFA courses are a slightly more in-depth and outdoor related first aid/CPR. It's typically a 2 or 3 day course. WFR is an 8-10 day course and designed for responding in backcountry settings. If you have any questions about these courses, please don't hesitate to ask Jenny or the captains about their experiences.
