Who We Are

We believe in the power of experiential education to deeply engage students and inspire lifelong learning. Our programs are delivered aboard the 133-foot schooner Adventuress, an unrivaled learning platform and one of only two National Historic Landmark sailing ships still in active operation on the West Coast. On powerful day and overnight programs, students and the public raise the sails, take the helm, and explore current issues affecting our marine environment.

In 1989, Sound Experience was founded with the belief that people will protect what they love. More than 60,000 young people have since sailed on day and overnight experiences that foster a connection to our waterways, the practice of stewardship, and an enduring love of the Salish Sea. Sound Experience is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the Puget Sound region of Washington State.
