What is The Adventuress Cup?
The Adventuress Cup - A Race for the Salish Sea is a public, values-driven event that engages people who care about our marine environment and the future we are leaving the next generation.Programs aboard schooner Adventuress reach Puget Sound area young people with powerful maritime and environmental education. The Adventuress Cup enables Sound Experience to reach underserved youth including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and those otherwise unable to participate for financial reasons or who do not traditionally have access to the waterfront.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, every dollar raised will directly support the care and maintenance of Sound Experience’s unique education platform, the National Historic Landmark sailing vessel, schooner Adventuress.
How does The Adventuress Cup work?
Adventuress Cup is a peer-to-peer fundraising event (similar to a bike-a-thon) where folks reach out to their network to encourage donations toward their team's goal. Race participants can join the fun on the water and/or virtually as part of a real or virtual team. Teams earn points to improve their boat’s handicap (or score) by participating in fundraising, Wind in Your Sails pre-race challenges and their on-the-water race score.All boats are welcome - sailboats of all sizes are encouraged to race and power boats are invited to join in a pre-race parade!
All participating boats must meet safety and other requirements outlined in the official Notice of Race.
When and where is The Adventuress Cup?
The 5th annual Adventuress Cup will be held on October 19 at Shilshole Bay in Seattle. Although the final schedule won't be released until closer to Race Day, it's likely that the Parade to the Course will start at 1pm, racing will be from 2pm-5pm and the Adventuress Cup Post-Race Celebration will be at 6pm.
